Increasingly organisations are looking to develop outer packaging which not just 'Shelf Ready', but fully 'Retail Ready'. To help companies benefit from well designed Retail Ready Packaging (RRP), IGD's Supply Chain Analysis provides two tools to help maximise the effectiveness of RRP solutions.
The assessment tool and guidelines have been developed by ECR UK through pulling together best practice processes, from across retailers, manufacturers and packaging suppliers.
The RRP Assessment tool is designed to help users assess the potential effectiveness of proposed RRP solutions against both current and benchmark packaging. For use in conjunction with the Retail Ready Packaging Functional Guidelines, the Assessment Tool features a simple to use Excel workbook to provide comparative ratings against five key Consumer and In-Store Operations functionality criteria;
- How easy is the packaging to shop
- How easy is the packaging to identify in the back of store
- Can the packaging be easily opened
- Can the packaging be easily merchandised to shelf
- How easy is it to dispose of and recycle the packaging
The assessment tool enables users to understand the relative effectiveness of different packaging solutions, and highlight where further development work could deliver benefits.
