Carrefour franchisee, Majid Al Futtaim, is to build a new distribution centre in Dubai, UAE, its biggest in the region.
4 times larger
When completed, the 74,300 sq m DC will be almost four times larger than Carrefour’s current largest facility in the region. It will feature advanced technologies and innovations for warehousing, storage and logistics and will support Carrefour and Majid Al Futtaim’s multichannel operations in the Middle East.
The facility, which will be in Dubai’s National Industries Park, will have a storage capacity of over 400 million units and will store fresh produce, meat and ambient groceries as well as non-food items.
Expanding operational capabilities
Miguel Povedano, executive regional director, Carrefour UAE, said: “With our new distribution centre in NIP, we have significantly expanded our operational capabilities in the region in terms of storage facilities as well as technological infrastructure. We continue to look at the Middle East and North Africa as one of the key growth regions for Carrefour and one that we will continue to invest in over the coming years. We are confident that this new facility will help us deliver even better quality of products and services to our customers,” he added.
