Sainsbury's, a leading UK supermarket, has appointed Karen Whitworth as
Director of Supply Chain Operations, replacing Tim Goalen who has moved to
another position at the retailer.
The Co-operative will reach a major milestone in its integration of the
Somerfield business at the end of September, when its food range alignment from
the two businesses is complete, according to press reports.
IGD is holding a free supply chain seminar in Paris, France that will
benchmark the French food retail supply chain against that of the UK. The
seminar, which will explore collaboration in the grocery supply chain, provides

Nisa-Today's has announced it is to open a 195,000 sq. ft (18,100 sq. m)
distribution centre in Livingston, Scotland to support business growth in the

Tesco's opened the latest addition to its fresh depot network in February
2010. The site, located in Pilning near Avonmouth operates a flow through
process so that Tesco holds no inventory on site.

Nisa-Today's is extending its waste packaging recycling scheme to all members located
around the M25 corridor and the initiative will be launched for members served

This week, Tesco is trialling a 'drive-thru' supermarket at its Extra store in Baldock,

Aldi has opened a new 56,000 sqm distribution centre near Melbourne the state
of Victoria in Australia. The new composite temperature facility is in Dandenong,
