London City Bond, the UK wine and spirits logistics provider, has secured a
contract with Zonin, one of the largest producers in the Italian wine sector.
US and Canadian-based supermarket Safeway is to restructure its distribution centre
network that surrounds Vancouver, in British Columbia, according to press
reports.
The Stobart Group expects growth to continue in the second half of the year
as new contracts in the food and grocery industry start to deliver, the company
announced in a pre-close trading statement.
Tesco has renewed its contract with logistics provider, Norbert
Dentressangle, for the management of the retailer's 12 Recycling Service Units (RSUs)
located throughout the UK and Ireland.

European logistics provider, TDG has revealed underlying operating profit of
£12. 1m (€14. 5m) in the first half of 2010, which is 39% up on the same period last year.
The transport division of Norbert Dentressangle has won a contract with
NICOLAS, the French wine specialist, providing a customised transport solution
for UK distribution, according to press reports.
The Stobart Group has submitted plans to Peterborough City Council for the
construction of a temperature controlled distribution centre next to Tesco's
site in Saltersgate, in the east of Peterborough.
Rising volumes in all business divisions at Kuehne + Nagel has boosted
results in the first half of 2010. Compared to the first half of 2009, turnover
is up15.
IGD has announced the short-listed companies for the
auspicious Tesco Ian Maclaurin Award for Supply Chain Excellence and the ECR UK Award
for Sustainable Distribution.
Kraft Foods has renewed its UK logistics contract for national distribution
and warehousing with Culina Logistics.
Duncan Campbell, Northern Distribution Manager for Kraft Foods Europe,
commented on the contract award: “With so many brands and products, it’s
important these are delivered to retailers without compromising their quality
and shelf life.
Netherlands based logistics provider, Partner Logistics has opened a 220,660
sq ft (20,500 sq. m) temperature controlled distribution centre in Wisbech,
Cambridgeshire, according to press reports.
CHEP has won a three-year contract with Intersnack, a European supplier of
snacks and nuts.
Stephen Daly, Production Control Manager at Intersnack, said: “CHEP’s pallet
quality and availability and the excellent working relationship we have with
their account management team were key factors in its appointment.
Norbert Dentressangle has won several new pieces of business at its chilled
airfreight distribution centre in Heathrow, in the UK.

Norbert Dentressangle has announced the appointment of Clare Davies as UK
Head of Sales. Davies joins from logistics provider Wincanton, where she worked
in a number of development roles with Nestle and Danone.
Metro Group has announced its second expansion in Africa, with a wholesale
store opening this month in Cairo, Egypt. The announcement also included a
long term investment to improve the supply chain and
trade in the region.
Boughey Distribution, has reported record results for the fiscal year that
ended 31st May 2010, buoyed by resilient ambient grocery volumes according to
parent company NWF.
Unilever has awarded Kuehne + Nagel a logistics contract to warehouse the
company's home and personal care (HPC) product range in Romania.
Martin Whitcombe, European Customer Logistics Director, said: “We are

distribution centre will be very successful.
Hain Frozen Foods, part of the Hain Celestial Group, has extended its
logistics contract with Nortbert Dentressangle for a further five years.
David Matwij, Operations Director for Hain Frozen Foods UK Ltd, commented:

over the initial two year period has seen significant growth.
Oakland International, the multi-temperature logistics provider, has invested
£3m to extend existing warehouse facilities at the company's head office complex
in Redditch, near Birmingham, England.
Iceland, which specialises in frozen products, reduced its average
warehouse stock levels by nearly two days cover in fast and slow moving goods in
2009.
CEVA Group has released its first quarter 2010 results, revealing a
year-on-year increase in revenue of 14. 3% to €1. 49bn. Earnings (EBITDA)
increased by 73.
Logistics provider, Howard Tenens, has installed a natural gas refuelling
station at its Andover depot. The Andover depot serves many of Howard Tenens'
food and drink customers that supply all the major UK supermarkets.
