The US grocer has announced new initiatives in its ‘Zero Hunger, Zero Waste’ plan, which aim to achieve its ambition of eliminating food waste across its supply chain by 2025.
What’s been added?
Essentially, Kroger is due to accelerate its food donations, which will amount to a billion meals by 2020, and three billion meals by 2025.
In addition, the grocer will also team up with WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) and Feeding America to advocate for public policy solutions at all levels of government. Furthermore, Kroger intends to use big data and insights to help identify areas where it can achieve the biggest impact.
Kroger has also announced the creation of a $10m fund to provide grants for innovative solutions that can contribute to eliminate waste.
